Join the Newstead Stonemasons Trail Guided Tour 

Newstead resident David MacGowan will lead participants on a guided tour, bringing to life the legacy of the stonemasons who built Melrose Abbey and made Newstead their home. Learn about the importance of Newstead's masonic lodge, the traditions of its members and the generations of masons who's descendants continue to live locally. David will uncover the hidden marks and sundials scattered around Newstead, left behind by the Master Masons as they practiced their craft, telling their stories and tales of Newstead along the way.

There will be two guided tours on the afternoon of the Festival leaving Newstead Village Green at 

12.15 and 14.45
